The Rastocine Center is a residential and business complex with a gross area of 70,000 m². It features four towers with residential units on the upper floors, business space on the lower floors, as well as a parking garage and a shopping center. The four towers are 82 m tall, measured from the foundation slab. All towers are structurally separated from the parking area and shopping center because a tower's seismic response is optimal with the elimination of the backstay effect. The most difficult task was the foundation design because the subsurface was complex, with different stiffnesses and faults in the most critical zone below the towers' foundation slabs. SCIA Engineer and its various modules for structural design and analysis were used for both global and local models. The Soil-In module, with real borehole positions from geotechnical research data, was very helpful for the design of pile foundations in the tower area. The shopping mall slabs, with a span of 12.5 m, are prestressed and supported by columns.
